A team event nobody has to apologise for

A team event nobody has to apologise for

Most team-building events have a moment when someone wishes they had stayed home. Forced tasks, point-scoring, the loudest voices dominating — it all tires more than it connects.

Around clay the dynamic is different. Everyone works on their own piece, yet sits at one table; there is a shared topic but no competition; you can talk, or simply be quiet. The manager’s hands get as muddy as the intern’s — and that dissolves more hierarchy than any icebreaker.

The feedback we hear most often: “I didn’t even notice three hours had passed.” We know no better measure of a team day.

Would you try it with your own team?
